Dear TMS Volunteer: Two months ago at our Annual Meeting, The Minerals, Metals & Materials Society (TMS) hosted 4,315 attendees from 64 different countries. A total of 3,406 presentations were made and 434 sessions were held, making it one of our most successful years ever. I share these statistics – and our success - because they could not have happened without you. Participation in the Annual Meeting is one of the many ways our volunteers help TMS share knowledge, advocate, educate, disseminate information and so much more. Thanks to your efforts, we are able to advance our reach and further our mission of promoting the global science and engineering professions concerned with minerals, metals, and materials. In the United States, this is National Volunteers Week, when we take the time to show our appreciation for the people who work hard in support of worthwhile causes. On behalf of the Society, I would like to sincerely thank you for your commitment to TMS. To make this expression of appreciation more tangible, TMS would like to offer to send your employer a letter of appreciation for their support of you in your volunteer activities. The letter will let your employer know that your work with TMS not only betters the profession and hones your skills and profile as a professional, but that your effort reflects well on your employer’s organization. If you are interested in taking advantage of this offer, please contact Joni Minehart, TMS volunteer specialist, at 724-776-9000, ext. 222 or volunteer@tms.org. Let us know the name and title of your supervisor and/or your communications director, the preferred format (a mailed letter or e-mail), and the destination postal or e-mail address. We’ll take care of the rest. Again, thank you for your contribution to TMS and the field of minerals, metals and materials science. TMS is a volunteer-driven Society, and we could not do it without you. Our volunteers are the heart of our success. Sincerely, |
