To understand the most important characteristics of a society, one must study its major cities. Write a response in which you discuss the extent to which you agree or disagree with the statement and explain your reasoning for the position you take. In developing and supporting your position, you should consider ways in which the statement might or might not hold true and explain how these considerations shape your position. 正文 In order to understand the most important characteristics of a society , studying its major cities seems to be necessary. To some extent , conducting the survey in the major cities can provide some main characteristic about a society ,such as the color , eating habits and etc. I deem that investigating the major cities is not adequate. If the whole society do inherit its culture ,history and political background from the same ancestor, study from the major cities may be reliable one .On the contrary ,if it descends from the versatile culture , history and political type, the method of researching the important characteristics will be not scientific and persuasive. Information, collected from the study from the major cities , is misleading and partial .Far from the observation from the wider aspect , the consequence is not that representative ,because the mainstream sometimes is not displayed in major cities .When one visits the Johanesburg ,Cape Town or other major cities , people will be astonished by their advancement .Away from the glitz and glamor , many ordinary cities in South Africa are still struggling with its development .Setting the major cities aside , the main characteristics of South Africa is the developing one , not the developed country .These principle also can be applied for the status of Dubai， whose financial condition and average income are superior , to United Arab Emirates .The UAE is not classifies as the developed countries due to the monotonous outputs ; despites of the extraordinary developments of the major cities , it is still stands among the developing country . So investigating the major cities is not sufficient to identify the main characteristics of a society . Setting the financial condition aside , other characteristics such as the religion and culture of a society are equally significant .If researches wants to clarify the religion belief in China , Study from the major cities reveals that the citizens who have the religion belief are more likely to be the Buddhists or Taoists .However，the conclusion is unreliable , because the Muslims also a large parts among the people who are the deep religious . But the Muslims concentrated on Ningxia Hui Autonomous region which is the minor cities in China. In terms of culture , we all know that the major cities in a society are highly modernized and industrialized so we can call it the industrial culture .But other minor cities whose status is as important as the industrial culture share the different culture .Majority of them are based on the plowing culture ;others depend on nomadic culture .So we can hardly say which culture is the most important characteristics of a society. Investigating the most important characteristics is not as simple as researching the eating habits in a society .In most cases , one can eat all kinds of food in the major cities ,since the cuisine is widely spread .Nevertheless some important characteristics of a society are not supposed to display in the major cities. |
