I think that major problems for getting DFT calculations of oxide surfaces to match experiments include: (1) the structural stability of the surface under the different atmospheres， e.g. how to deal with the surface polaritity and the possible surface reconstruction; (2) there may be the strong correlation for the transition metal or rare metal oxide such as Fe2O3, Cr2O3, EuO and CeO2. To overcome the deficiency of the common LDA/GGA for the strong correlation system, we have to consider the columb repulsion interaction among the d or f electrons; |
