hermodynamics and heat transfer are key modes of energy transport, energy conversation, energy conservation, and energy management in the nature and many applications such as heat exchangers, thermal energy storage systems, gas turbines, aircrafts, and human body. Thermodynamic analysis is essential for other fields of physics and for chemistry, chemical engineering, aerospace engineering, mechanical engineering, cell biology, biomedical engineering, and materials science and is useful in other fields such as economics. Heat transfer concerns the generation, use, conversion, and exchange of thermal energy and heat between physical systems. Heat transfer is normally classified into thermal conduction, thermal convection, thermal radiation, and transfer of energy by phase changes. In most cases, it is very difficult to obtain analytical solutions of thermodynamic and heat transfer problems, and numerical modeling and analysis are becoming a powerful tool in related areas. A large number of analytical and computational techniques are developed for modeling and analyzing thermodynamic system and heat transfer process. A great amount of the literature was published, and perhaps a lot more is available as classified work with the industry on this important subject.

This special issue focuses on the latest advancements in thermodynamics and heat transfer. We invite investigators to contribute to this special issue with original research articles as well as review articles on advances in thermodynamic or heat transfer problems. Potential topics include, but are not limited to:

Mathematical models/methods/algorithm for thermodynamics and heat transfer
Engineering thermodynamics (chemical thermodynamic, material thermodynamic, mechanical thermodynamic, etc.)
Heat transfer and heat transfer engineering
Heat transfer enhancement and cooling
Thermodynamic system analysis and optimization
Microscale or nanoscale thermodynamics and heat transfer
Design and optimization of heat transfer process
Computational analysis of thermodynamic or heat transfer problems
Other related computational techniques

Prospective authors should submit an electronic copy of their complete manuscript through the journal Manuscript Tracking System at http://mts.hindawi.com/submit/journals/mpe/mtht/ according to the following timetable:
