Over the last years, the concept of using the immune system to fight tumors has been reported . Immunization with DLL4-encoding plasmid DNA by in vivoelectroporation retarded the growth of orthotopically implanted mammary carcinomas in mice. Probably the main mechanism involved in this process was connected with targeting endothelial tip cells and DLL4 ligand. Importantly, no evidence for delayed wound healing responses or for toxicity associated with pharmacological DLL4 blocking was reported in mice immunized with the DLL4 vaccine. Induction of immunity toward mediators of pathological angiogenesis such as DLL4 will be asignificant step in clinical oncology because it could provide protection against recurrent malignancies in the adjuvant setting.

在过去的几年来中,以免疫系统来对抗肿瘤,这种概念已见报道。伴DLL4-编码质粒DNA的免疫方法,以体内电穿孔法方式,延迟了小鼠原位植入乳腺肿瘤的生长。参与了这一过程的主要机制可能与靶向内皮根尖细胞和DLL4配体有关。更重要的是,用DLL4疫苗免疫的小鼠,没有伤口愈合延迟或与药物阻断DLL4相关的毒性据报道。诱导免疫介导如DLL4的病理性血管生成,将是临床肿瘤学很大的一大步,因为这一措施可以用于辅助治疗,提供保护,防止恶性肿瘤复发。
