Physical Review Applied
AIM & SCOPE
The goal of Physical Review Applied is to promote the publication of the highest quality papers at the intersection of physics and engineering. The term, ¡°applied physics,¡± traditionally encompasses theoretical and experimental studies of topics including materials science, surface and interface physics, device physics, condensed matter physics and optics, and we welcome both short letters and longer treatments in these fields.
Beyond that conventional description, we especially invite papers by physicists working on problems in engineering, and by engineers investigating systems involving physical mechanisms. We anticipate that by combining the best in physics with the best in engineering, we will strengthen both disciplines as well as provide new insights, foster new approaches, and promote new collaborations in a forum not available elsewhere.
Topics of interest include, but are not limited to, the following.
Applications of quantum mechanics in computers, electronics, and nanocrystals
Biophysics, bioengineering, and biomedical materials
Device physics
Energy technology including renewable energy, energy storage, and energy generation
High-pressure and geo-physics
Magnetics and spintronics
Material science and engineering, including polymers, semiconductors, superconductors, interfaces and surfaces, and metamaterials
Morphogenesis and pattern formation in nature and in manufactured materials
Nanoscience and nanotechnology
Optics, optoelectronics, photonics, and laser physics
Soft matter physics including fluid, granular, and colloidal dynamics, jamming and glasses, complex fluids, and active matter
We encourage all insightful, innovative, and forward-looking scientists working on applied or applicable problems to consider making Physical Review Applied their home for scientific publication and discussion.
