CALL FOR PAPERS Track 11 Materials: Genetics to Structures Topic 11-2 Nanostructured Materials 2014 ASME International Mechanical Engineering Congress and Exposition Montreal, Canada, November 14-20, 2014 The Multifunctional Materials Committee under the Materials Division is sponsoring a nanostructured materials symposium at the 2014 IMECE, Montreal, Canada. The interest in emerging nanostructured materials is growing exponentially since they are the fundamental building blocks for continuous technology advancement. A broad and deep understanding is needed for characterizing the mechanical properties of materials, structures, processes, as well as investigating the deformation and failure mechanisms at the micro- and nano- length scales. This symposium is for researchers to exchange ideas at the frontier of material mechanics at small length scales. Speakers will present fundamental work that covers experiment, theory and/or computation. Abstracts, presentations and/or manuscripts are solicited in the following topics including but not limited to: • Nano-functional materials (low-dimensional/core-shell nanoobjects, nanoporous materials and nanocomposites) • Multi-scale simulation and experiment of material behavior • Micro/nanostructure evolution during thermal and electrical processes • Micro/nanoindentation • Size-effect and strain gradient theories and experiments • Structure-properties relationship at the micro/nano scale • Fracture and fatigue at atomistic scale • Mechanics occurred in micro- and nanofabrication processes • Nano-actuators, sensor systems, and devices Prospective authors should refer to the following schedule for submissions. Authors are directed to the ASME congress website (http://www.asmeconferences.org/congress2014/) for updated deadlines and required online submission guidelines. Publication Schedule Abstract Submission: February 17, 2014 Submission of Full-Length Draft Paper for Review: April 14, 2014 Submission of Final Paper: July 28, 2014 Organizers: Xinnan Wang (xinnan.wang@ndsu.edu), Department of Mechanical Engineering, North Dakota State University, Fargo, ND. Yong Zhu (yong_zhu@ncsu.edu), Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering, North Carolina State University, Raleigh, NC. Xi Chen (xichen@columbia.edu), Earth and Environmental Engineering, Columbia University, New York, NY. Vikas Tomar (tomar@purdue.edu), School of Aeronautics and Astronautics, Purdue University, West Lafayette, IN. We appreciated it if you could help forward this call for abstracts to your colleagues, thanks! Nanostructured Materials 2014 ASME call for papers.jpg |
