Project description
Madrid Institute for Advanced Studies of Materials (IMDEA Materials Institute) is a non-profit independent international research institute promoted by the Madrid regional government (Comunidad de Madrid) to perform cutting-edge research in Materials Science and Engineering. The successful candidate will enroll as PhD student in the Polytechnic University of Madrid (UPM) which is the collaborative partner with China Scholar Council (CSC) and be supervised directly by Prof.Dr.De-Yi Wang (He has been officially authorized as PhD supervisor and adjunct Professorship in UPM). As the principal investigator or coordinator, the PI has coordinated or participated over 10 projects from national, international public entities and industrial sectors, such as FP7-NMP (EU), FP7-Marie Curie Action-CIG(EU), FP7-People-Marie Curie IIF(EU), FP7-People-IRSES(EU), EU-COST Action-MP1105 (National Representative from Spain), EU-COST Action-FP1303(National Representative from Spain), Ramón y Cajal Grant (MICINN, Spain), Europe Excellence (MICINN, Spain), Industry funded Project, PostDoc-CSC program, PhD-CSC programs, etc.
This project would focus on the development of new generation sustainable fire safe polymer nanocomposites. A combination of innovative chemistry synthesis, advanced polymer processing, and fire retarding technology will be used in the projects. Advanced experimental analytical techniques will be employed to understand structure-property relationship. High Performance Polymer Nanocomposites (HPPN) Group has set up close collaboration with several top-level research institutions from Germany, UK, Italy, etc. Consequently the student will be involved in an environment with many potentialities and the perfect expertise for the fulfillment of the project.

Other positions available
HPPN group, currently, has two Postdoc Positions available. Also, one or two funded PhD student positions might be offered in the late months of 2014.
