英语写作的体裁很多，对于不同体裁的作文所需要的表达词也不同，以下是针对不同题材的作文所需的重点词汇的一个小小的归纳：
1. 表因果关系
<adv.> consequently; therefore; thus…
<phra> as a result; as a consequence; the reason why; because of; lead to; attribute to …
例：Thus the question was finally settled.
2. 表转折关系
<adv.> however; nevertheless; yet; otherwise…
<phra> but at the same time; despite that…
例：The clouds were dark, nevertheless, the airplane took off. I know nothing yet.
3. 表对比关系
<adv.> similarly; equally; conversely; while…
<phra> by contrast; on the other hand; compare with…
4. 表递进关系
<adv.> furthermore; moreover; besides…
<phra> in addition; not only … but also…
5. 表总结关系
<adv.> thus; therefore…
<phra> our conclusion here is brief and short… in summary…
6. 表次序关系
<adv.> firstly; secondly; thirdly; finally; eventually; furthermore…

7. 表列举关系

Whether 的用法：whether sb do sth. 例：I’ll see whether he is ill.
Whether …or 例：It matters little whether it will rain or snow.
