For each area, the authors have delineated the current understanding of its physiology and pathophysiology during gestation as well as outlined the maternal therapy to optimize pregnancy outcome. In addition, I have included an article on the impact of polycystic ovarian syndrome on fertility, relevant because of its prevalence and the availability of therapy.
