With ambitious 2020 targets laid down by the UK government, it is vital to consider how divergent social, environmental and economic objectives can be balanced across technologies to deliver a coherent energy system that will be effective in the long-term. This conference will aim to explore the following questions: What is systems based thinking, and what constitutes a systems approach? How do things interact in an energy system? Do we understand the interfaces and links between component parts of our energy system? How are we structuring our policies to allow for resilient planning? How can interactions between markets and policy be better understood? This conference will explore the most suitable and efficient ways to build a better energy system. It will examine new thinking about the structures, processes and policies that are needed to ensure technology integration and drive a step change in investment, whilst considering the overall impact of these initiatives at the system level. Innovative ideas and solutions will be discussed in order to analyse and assess possible options for implementation. Outcomes will be published to provide recommendations for policy and decision makers. Submit Abstracts by 31 January 2014 Abstracts for oral and poster presentations are invited on the submission topics and should be submitted using the online abstract submission system. |
