PSCs typically have ideality factors in the range 1.5¨C2 due to their inherent disorder, and departures from unity are attributed to various recombination
mechanisms inside band-to-band transitions, that is, trapassisted and tail state recombination.

Polar stratospheric clouds or PSCs, also known as //  nacreous clouds/, are clouds in the winter polar stratosphere at altitudes of 15,000¨C25,000 meters. They are best observed during civil twilight when the sun is between 1 and 6 degrees below the horizon. ...

Polymer solar cells with enhanced fill factors
https://www.nature.com/nphoton/j ... c_id=NPHOTON-201310

Recent advances [×îнøÕ¹/] in # polymer solar cell (PSC)[¾ÛºÏÎïÌ«ÑôÄܵç³Ø/] performance [ÐÔÄÜ/] have resulted from //compressing the bandgap[:ѹËõ´ø϶] to enhance the //short-circuit current[:¶Ì·µçÁ÷] while lowering the highest occupied molecular orbital to increase the //open-circuit voltage[:¶Ï·µçѹ]. Nevertheless, PSC power //conversion efficiencies[:ת»»Ð§ÂÊ] are still constrained by low //fill factors[:Ìî³äÒò×Ó], typically[ͬusually] below 70%. Here, we report[Ìá³ö] PSCs with exceptionally [ͬ:to an exceptional degree = Òì³£µÄ] high fill factors by combining //complementary materials design[:¸¨Öú²ÄÁÏÉè¼Æ], synthesis, processing[¼Ó¹¤] and device engineering[Éè¼Æ] strategies. The //donor polymers[:¾ÛºÏÎ﹩Ìå], PTPD3T and PBTI3T, when incorporated into #inverted bulk-heterojunction PSCs with a PC71BM acceptor, result in PSCs with fill factors of 76¨C80%.
[----------------ÎÊÌâÖеÄdepartures from unityµÄ ͬÒåת»» ¾ÍÔÚϾ仰ÖÐ-----------]
The //enhanced performance/ is attributed to //highly ordered, closely packed and properly oriented[:¸ß¶ÈÓÐÐò£¬½ôÃÜÅÅÁкͷ½ÏòÕýÈ·µÄ ;¾ÍÊÇunityµÄ¸Äд] active-layer microstructures[΢¹Û½á¹¹] with //optimal horizontal phase separation and vertical phase gradation[×îÓŵÄˮƽ Ïà·ÖÀëºÍ´¹Ö±µÄ Ïཥ±ä]. The result is efficient charge extraction and suppressed bulk and interfacial bimolecular recombination[?????]. The high fill factors yield// power conversion efficiencies/ of up to 8.7% from polymers with suboptimal[µÚ¶þ×îºÃµÄ=´ÎÓŵÄ?] bandgaps, suggesting that efficiencies above 10% should be realizable by bandgap modification.

Fig. 1. Schematic [ʾÒâͼ;ͼ½â]of plastic solar cells. PET ¨C polyethylene terephthalate, ITO ¨C indium tin oxide, PEDOTSS ¨C poly(3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene), active layer (usually a polymer:fullerene blend), Al ¨C aluminium.

Mechanism[edit]

Polymer solar cells usually consist of an electron- or //hole-blocking layer[¿ÕѨ×èµ²²ã/] on top of an //indium tin oxide[î÷ÎýÑõ»¯Îï/] (ITO) //conductive glass[µ¼µç²£Á§ /] followed by //electron donor[µç×Ó¸øÌå/] and an //electron acceptor[µç×ÓÊÜÌå/] (in the case of bulk heterojunction solar cells), a hole or electron blocking layer, and metal electrode on top. The nature and order of the blocking layers ¨C as well as the nature of the metal electrode ¨C depends on whether the cell follows a regular or an inverted device architecture[¹¹Ô췽ʽ].
In bulk heterojunction polymer solar cells, light generates #excitons[¼¤×Ó] with subsequent separation of charges in the interface between an electron donor and acceptor blend within the device¡¯s active layer. //These charges[ÕâЩµçºÉ] then transport to the device¡¯s electrodes where these charges flow outside the cell, //perform work[??] and then re-enter the device on the opposite side. The cell's efficiency is limited by several factors especially //non-geminate recombination[·Ç³ÉË«µÄÖØ×é/]. Hole mobility [¿ÕѨǨÒÆÂÊ/]leads to faster conduction[´«µ¼] across the active layer.[7][8]

An exciton is a bound state of an electron and an imaginary particle called an electron hole in an insulator (or semiconductor), or in other words, a Coulomb correlated electron-hole pair. It is an elementary excitation, or a quasiparticle of a solid.
a localized, mobile excited state of a crystal, consisting of an electron and a hole bound together.

In probability theory, heavy-tailed distributions are probability distributions whose tails are not exponentially bounded[Óнç]:[1] that is, they have //heavier tails[½ÏÖصIJ»¿ÉºöÊÓµÄβ°Í] than the exponential distribution. In many applications it is the right tail of the distribution that is of interest, but a distribution may have a heavy left tail, or both tails may be heavy.
There are three important subclasses[СÀà] of heavy-tailed distributions, the fat-tailed distributions[´Öβ·Ö²¼], the long-tailed distributions and the subexponential distributions[ÑÇÖ¸Êý·Ö²¼]. //In practice [ʵ¼ÊÉÏ/], all commonly [=normally/]used heavy-tailed distributions belong to the subexponential class.
There is still some discrepancy[²»Ò»ÖÂ] over the use of the term heavy-tailed. There are two other definitions in use. Some authors use the term to refer to those distributions which do not have all their power[??????] moments[???????] finite[ÓÐÏÞµÄ]; and some others to those distributions that do not have a //finite variance[ÓÐÏÞ·½²î/]. The definition given in this article is the most general in use, and includes all distributions encompassed by the alternative definitions, as well as those distributions such as log-normal [¶ÔÊýÕý̬·Ö²¼] that possess all their power moments, yet which are generally acknowledged to be heavy-tailed. (Occasionally, heavy-tailed is used for any distribution that has heavier tails than the normal distribution.)
