There are two ways to generate magnetic fields, by permanent magnet or electromagnetically and the latter can be through DC or AC. Among the studies, whether there are differences in the way water systems are impacted for different types of magnetic fields, has not appeared in reports. In the author's view, although the mechanism by which different magnetic fields impact on a water system is likely the same but the ways of impact may very well be rather different. If inappropriately done, the effect of magnetic fields on crystallisation of calcium carbonate will be insignificant so that the researcher would draw the wrong conclusion that there is no effect of magnetic fields on crystallisation of calcium carbonate. If the differences in effects of different types magnetic fields ways can be found, it will have an important bearing on revealing the mechanism of magnetic fields. This paper presents an experiment where, through permanent magnet, DC electromagnetically as well as cosine AC electromagnetically at two frequencies, the effects of magnetic fields on crystallisation of CaCO3 in static Ca(HCO3)2 solution are studied respectively.
