Ph.D. positions available in Cancer/Drug discovery at University of Macau

Two Ph.D. studentship positions are available in Dr. Joong Sup Shim’s Lab in the Faculty of Health Sciences at the University of Macau (https://fhs.umac.mo/). With an unprecedented support of Macau SAR Government, the University of Macau is now making a quantum leap to be the world class university with the construction of the beautiful brand new campus in Hengqin island near Macau (http://www.umac.mo/new_campus_project/). Aiming at becoming the world class university, the University of Macau has built the new Faculty of Health Sciences (FHS) and recruited excellent scientists from the world class universities and research institutions. Dr. Shim’s lab is working on the area of Cancer Research and Chemical Biology aiming to develop novel anticancer therapeutics. The candidates should be highly motivated and enthusiastic about scientific research, and have a strong background in biological sciences and experiences in cell culture and laboratory experiments. Candidates with experiences in animal (mouse) handling are preferred but not essential. Priority will be given to those with master degree or in the final year of master program and with fluency in English speaking and writing. The recruitment will be continued until the positions are filled. The successful candidates are expected to start Ph.D. program on September 2014. Monthly salary will be around MOP10,000-12,000 depending on the candidate’s experiences and qualification. The university will provide a postgraduate house inside the new campus in an affordable price and is building a variety of brand new facilities to enjoy various activities within the new campus. If a candidate can start work from early next year, we can offer him/her a Research Assistant (RA) position from March to August 2014 before entering the Ph.D. program on September. | The tuition scheme and accommodation fee can be found in the graduate school website (http://www.umac.mo/grs/en/admissions.php). Last year's tuition fee for PhD students was MOP14,550/semester. Considering in-campus postgradute housing and low living cost, the student's stipend will be very competitive. More detailed information on student's benefits will be discussed when students receive the offer. |
