TEA: story of the leaf. Episode 2. The End of the Road

The End of the Road Tea is a journey from the land it grows up to where there is no tea, from expectations for the drink to create their own tea. And people find their traditions during the unceasing footsteps. Tea is inclusive. We commonly speak tea in referring to the products processed from leaves of Camellia plants. But there are several other plants playing the role of tea in our daily lives, such as Snow Chrysanthemum in Xinjiang, herbal tea in Guangdong and insect tea in Guizhou Province. Snow Chrysanthemum looks beautiful, which makes it be an ornamental plant at first. After brewing it, the color is red and bright, and smells like high-grade black tea. This kind of drinking can be used to the treatment of hypertension. In Guangdong province, herbal tea is widely spread all over the street. Citizens living here will turn to herbal tea for help when having a cough or suffering from excessive internal heat. Insect tea is one thing which I have never heard before, and shocked me most. Because it is the fecal pellets excreted by leaf-eating insects. Even though insect tea has a great deal of functions good for health, and it can only be found in China, I dare not to drink the water brewed with this tea. Puer tea is a hot topic these years. This kind of tea belongs to dark tea, which is tied to Ancient Tea Route closely. We know that Sichuan-Tibet route and Yunnan-Tibet route are two main roads transferring tea to Tibet. People use horses to transport Puer tea from Yunnan to Tibet, while uses panniers to transport dark tea from Ya’an, Sichuan province, to Kangding, Tibet. No matter by which mean, the journey is long and tough. You will find details in episode 2 and know more about these ancient roads. China is a multinational country, and tea is a traditional tie to our peoples. Tea is a fusion of man and nature, a fusion of life and life, if you want to understand this fusion in deep level, you should start with The End of the Road.
