Let me add my 3 cents:
1. The elderly have fostered, not only ourselves, but also our wives, husbands, sisters, brothers and all we love and rely on, through hard times we do not see much today, for which they deserve the respect;
2. Much of what we take for granted today was built up by the elderly, as the saying goes, "elder generations plant the tree and the younger enjoy the shade", for which we should be grateful;
3. We are all going through the same journey of ife as the elderly have done and there is such a rich experience we can learn from them, from which we can benefit alot;
4. Last but not least, I think, we do have to be respectful to the edlerly for their age - as their remaining time with us is much more limited, for which opportunities for us to be with them get fewer
Let us all honor the aged as we will be there soon

There is a point in addition.
All of us will be aged someday. Then we also need others' care and respect. And how we treat the elderly today will be learned and finally followed by the younger generations. To respect the old is the heritage of our culture, and also the basic need of an excellent citizenship.

Great point my lady, indeed we wish to be respected when we get old, and we wish to pass on the cultural heritage to the coming generations.
