本人根据第二种经验申请成功，今年六月底申请，七月第成功收到税务局来信，退税成功。

第一种经验

博士后申请免税需要提交的材料：
1，一封信，叙述我的情况，要求免税
2，打印以下条文

http://www.hmrc.gov.uk/taxtreaties/in-force/c.htm 被强制执行的法律       http://www.hmrc.gov.uk/taxtreaties/signed.htm 被签署的但是还没有被执行的法律

Article 21 Teachers and Researchers

An individual who, immediately before visiting a Contracting State, was a resident of the other Contracting State and who is present in the first-mentioned State for a period not exceeding three years for the purpose of teaching, giving lectures or conducting research at a university, college, school or other recognised educational or scientific research institution in the first-mentioned State shall be exempt from tax in the first-mentioned State for a period not exceeding three years from the date of his first arrival in that State in respect of remuneration from such teaching, lectures or research.

5，工作许可复印件
所有材料装一个信封，用 Record Letter 寄。然后在家等了差不多一个半月，接到一份信，告知符合退税条件。下一次发工资的时候，税就退到帐上了。

Dear Sir./Madam,

I'm XXXXXX, a national of People's Republic of China who arrived in United Kingdom on 21st Sept. 2008 for the first time. I started my job as a Research Fellow of University of XXXX from 22nd Sept. 2008 with a 12 month fix term contract.

According to article 21 of the double taxation agreement between United Kingdom and China (DT4970),

“An individual who, immediately before visiting a Contracting State, was a resident of the other Contracting State and who is present in the first mentioned State for a period not exceeding three years for the purpose of teaching, giving lectures or conducting research at a university, college, school or other recognised educational or scientific research institution in the first mentioned State shall be exempt from tax in the first mentioned State for a period not exceeding three years from the date of his first arrival in that State in respect of remuneration from such teaching, lectures or research.”,

I'd like to apply for income tax relief from source (tax code NT). I'm fully aware that if I work in the United Kingdom for more than 3 years I need to refund all the exempted income tax.

记住一定要带上原件，一定要面谈的，我估计像原帖那样直接写信可能不大行，因为要校验原件的
还有一定要有NI号和地址（短期之内不能变的）
然后Tax Office的GG就指导我填了一个P86 First Time Arrive in UK的表材料就算收进去了，
