[交流] about an English lecture

after four-days of hard study, i waited for my relaxed time finally. our school had an athletic meeting on last Friday, so actually  i had three days to have fun. on  Friday morning,i attented a lecture which was reported by a very famous foreign professor. He had published  many papers with  high impact  factor in well-known journals ,such as science, JACS, Angew.chem. It was so amazing for me ,for these journals are so far away to me . unfortunately, my listeing skill is poor , i can not follow him, i just got some easy phrases through his whole lecture.  My senior fellow apprentice told me good oral english and listening skill were very important especially when you have to listen natural English lecture. i want to improve my  English , but i am lack of motivation, as a result of  i could not make obvious progress on my  English.  i should make effort ,writing something in English everyday is a good way to pratice .come on

from my experience, watching american or english drama WITHOUT subtitles is a good way of training your listening.
my writing is just soso, but after i've watched the drama FRIENDS about a year and a half, i feel comfortable to listen to any lecture related to my work, and may get 90% of what they said. and the fun is the fact is that even listening to a lecture about something i dont know, still i can follow over a half.
so i think the very important thing is training your ears!
