POST DOCTORAL POSITION A post-doctoral position is available in the laboratory of Prof. Dr. Ingrid Hoffmann at the German Cancer Research Center, DKFZ, in Heidelberg, Germany. The position is initially for 2 years with possibility of extension. Our laboratory is working on the regulation of cell division in mammalian cells (Cizmecioglu et al., 2010, JCB 191, 731- 9; Puklowski et al., 2011, NCB 13, 1004-9; Bahtz et al. 2012, J Cell Sci 125, 486-96). We recently identified a novel regulator of mitotic cell division (Zhu et al., 2013, JCB, 200: 773-87). The project will address the function of this novel mitotic regulator in normal and in cancer cells. Modern cell biological techniques including life cell imaging and high resolution confocal laser scanning microscopy as well as biochemical techniques will be used. We are seeking a highly motivated and outstanding PhD candidate with experience in molecular biological and biochemical techniques. The applicant must be fluent in English (written and spoken), and able to work independently.
