An inspiring experience During one of the “Golden Weeks ”-the National Day Holiday. I traveled to Chongqing ,one of the four municipalities of China and really spent a golden time there . Chongqing , located northwest of our country , neighboring the capital city of Sichuan province –Chengdu , have a population of 31,590,000 . Historically, Chongqing was once occupied by the rebellious Guomindang during the civil war. So you may see some air-raid shelters when dangling around. Some of them are still in use today. Because it’s a natural air-conditioner , cooler in summer ,warmer in winter . After people’s liberation war , new power established , a monument was elected in Nanping district , where has been a business harbor today. Just as so called mountain city , there’s no even road . So as a newcomer , you’ll feel tired shortly after a few walks on the craggy street. Just like any other second-tier cities , there’s lots of skyscrapers beside the street ,but what’s different, they located on an high and low pattern as a natural ladder , which forms a spectacular scenery . Unlike other parts of China , the districts there are not adjacent but apart . It will take you several hours from one to another , more over , the bridge areas among them are totally barren mountains and trackless hills . Hardly a single society in sight. Also for the mountainous physiognomy ,taxies are fewer, buses are mini , but motorbikes are everywhere , maybe the largest group of motorbikers are Chongqing citizens . It’s really an impressive experience to see a flock of motorbikes sprawled along the crowed and hilly street . The manufacture industry of motorbikes is also booming accordingly and have produced series of brand names such as Jialing . But what can they do even motorbikes couldn’t reach for the so rugged roads ? Don’t worry, Bangbangs are at your service , they are a group of men with a long bamboo in hand , mainly migrant workers , who can load everything you need , so don’t too surprised when you come across a man takeing one refrigerator each side on his shoulder. There’s an saying “Each place has its own way of supporting its own inhabitants”. Located southwest of China , Chongqing really has lots of specialists , the leaves fall at April not October . The climate there is similar to the south , summer is longer from May to October and in cold days , hardly you can enjoy any sunshine .At two thirds of the wintertime , it’s gloomy and cold. Like any other part of the south , there’s no heater system , how can people deal with the cold ? Chili and pepper . Known as one of the four hotpot city in China , Chongqing are also renowned for its cuisine culture . You’ll never afford to miss the delicate food there . Hotpot restaurants and snacks outlets are everywhere . when walking along the shopping mall , you can see every passenger holds a bowl of something to eat , such as icy jelly , spicy potato noodles and so on , from young to old , from men to women , from all walks of life . A strong fragrance fills the air. Come on , try some . Cuisine culture has been a long history from ancient times . Today , “chuan wei ”(spicy flavor) is favoured by more and more people , native chefs are spread across the nationwide . Randomly entering an eatery , you’ll enjoy the authentic flavor of “Chuanwei”, at the same time , the hospitality of natives , ever dish , the heart of the chef. But be cautious , it may burn your tongue if you are not a spicy eater. So you’d better order some cold dish called Paocai (some scores of preserved vegetables ) , usually for free at restaurants . The sour flavor of the Paocai could counterbalance the burning spicy and makes you refresh . How smart local people are ! A harmonious pattern in our dinning table . The spicy cuisine made people there straightforward and easygoing . They even speak louder than citizens of other city ! The grooming economy , the impetus of southwest area , the municipality status and the burgeoning cuisine industry has made the city a combination of new and old , south and west , new harbor for expatriates , Chongqing has become a prosperous second-tier city . |
