Why no thread today?

It is already 10 am, but I still see no new thread here! What a pity! It is raining here, what is the word to describe the sound of a not heavy rain? In Chinese we say, Xixilili, but what is it in English? I like raining, but my daughter does not. When I was young, I was in my hometown. It often rained there for many days in summer and autumn, it was not heavy, but can last many days, we call that kind of rain Lianyinyu. The altitude of my hometown is about 1400 m, so it is a plateau. When it rained, even in summer, it is rather cool, or even a little cold. Some old people even put on thick coat for winter. When it rained, it was very nice to sleep in the sound of the rain. At day time, I often went to school, wearing a coat-like thing when it rained, it was actually a plastic bag for fertilizer, the shape is rectangle, when you put one angle into another one, it just became a raincoat. Sometimes I wore a big Maiganmaozi. A Maiganmaozi is a very big hat, as big as a small umbrella, its shape was just like a umbrella, but it was made of straw pipe of wheat plant, it can not be folded. When it rains, the rainwater can flow down the slopping side of the hat. It was also used by people when they work in the sunshine in summer. We did not have any umbrella at home. We only have two pairs of water-proof boots at home, one was for my dad, one was for me (I did not remember when my sister and brother grew older, whether my parents bought any such boots for them). But, often if I went to school when it was not raining and came home in rain, I did not wear such boots. So, in this case, I only wore the shoes made by my mom. I still remember I ran in the rain with such shoes, in order to avoiding falling down, I ran in the meadow on the side of the road. But once, I did not know why, I slipped on the ground, my bottom was really hurt.  I even can remember the feeling of my feet in the completely wet shoes, the water was among the space of my flesh and the water-soaked shoes, the line-like pattern of my black shoes. As, you changed your feet when running or walking, when you put your foot on the ground, some water will flow away under your shoes, and some water will come out of your shoes. And the sound of running in such a rain without my shoes seems still echoing in my ears. Often, when I came home, I felt really cold in such a rain. So, I often quickly went to the warm Kang (a bed-like thing, which can be heated by burning straws under), and put a quilt on my legs. In such a condition, a bowl of warm soup with radish leaves is a good choice. In such a rain, it was cold, you are shivering, a bowl of hot soup in your hands was really nice! The soup itself was whit, while the leaves are green. It is a little thick, warm, I can put some pieces of Mantou into such a soup. Two bowls of such food would completely make me warm. There are very tiny thorns on the surface of the radish leaves, so it is a special experience to drink such a soup. According to the weather report, it will rain until tomorrow morning here. So, I will listen to the rain this night. Have a nice day! |

thanks for sharing your nice story with rains. i like rains since i was a little child. at that time, when it rains my parents will stay at home. children could play freely with no pressure at all. people who are busy working in the field may come to my house for protection from the rain. they are gathering with no appointment, talking about the rain, chatting rain-related or unrelated rubbish stuff - , wow, there are so much fun. when it rains heavily, it is like the situation that there is an electricity failure in the dormitory. there is always surprise. however, i also had sad memory with raining. when i was a pupil, we had no umbrella at home. when go to school, my brother and i are always completely wet on the way. In the winter time, it is so cold that we can not bear it. |
