The disputes were arisen among British nobles once again as to the heir of the throne shortly after the end of the Hundred Year War between Britain and France. But both sides of this war were the two descendants of King Edward III, the British people also felt the loss of their loved ones and the hardship of life. During this war, one was York represented by White Rose and the other was the Lancaster represented by Red Rose, so the war was called the Wars of the Roses.
Between 1455 and 1485, York killed family members of Lancaster in the same of removing a traitor, while Lancaster sent the head of York to Ireland by means of the king-the Duke of York. The conflicts went on as York returned from Ireland on September 23rd, 1459. The two sides refused to give up and killed one another, even the prisoner of war didn’t escape the threats of death. Moreover, the Duke of York that failed in the war was also beheaded. The murder of the Duke of York failed to erase the anger of both sides, and the conflicts became more serious instead. In 1464, the son of the Duke of York Edward IV waged war once again and defeated Lancaster, and York started ruling over York. But the war broke out again shortly after Edward IV’s death. In August 1485, a man with different family name came to the UK and was loved by people, who wished that the war could be ends by this noble-Henry Tudor. The arrival of Henry Tudor ended the war between two brothers which lasted for 30 years and created the Tudor dynasty in the history.
Wars of the Roses ended while its impact was far-reaching. Noble groups killing each other made the feudal separatist forces brought to its knees, royalty could be strengthened, and the reign of absolute monarchy began in the United Kingdom since then. Besides, most of the fightings took place in suburbs, cities hadn’t been destroyed, the economy remains prosperous, the interests of the bourgeoisie and the new nobles weren’t attacked basically.
