EDUCATION consists not merely in the acquisition of knowledge, but also, and chiefly, in learning to observe accurately and systematically. It is the design of this book, and the series of books of which it forms a part, to aid the Teacher in educating his Pupil, as well as to impart useful knowledge. And, inasmuch as all valuable attainments must be the result of labour, and therefore the Scholar must master certain things in order to attain a knowledge of Geography, these are given in the concise form of a Dictionary, which should be memorized before the Pupil advances further.
