One of the funny things about English is the different names for groups of animals and types of baby animals. For example, a baby cat is kitten. A baby dog is puppy. A baby chicken is a chick. A baby cow is a calf. Also, groups of animals have names that act as measure words. A group of cows, horses, goats, or sheep is a herd. A group of birds is a flock. A group of dogs or wolves is a pack.
