| you certainly can splice both types of fiber together but may have huge loss. it will absolutely be fine to construct a fiber laser using a PM and a standard fiber. regarding your first question, i guess you could ask the manufacture, PM fiber normally is just for linear polarized light propagation. but not necessary unless you specified |
