1. Fig.1 showed us that the chemical potential raise slightly with the increase of angle. That mean the system was changing smoothly.
2. According to the Figure, with the augmentation of time, the chemical potential increased significantly at first, then suffered a sudden drop after t=3. This would be explained that with the boundary of energy traps became more and more important, the system got unstable. When t>3, the chemical potential change became smooth, which indicated that the system was getting gradually to a stable stage.
