[求助] 请问杂志社编辑回复的内容是什么意思?

Perhaps what’s most surprising about the complexes and the methods used to prepare them is that they are discrete molecules and are not polymeric like many 1,3-benzenedicarboxylate complexes previously reported in the literature. In fact, examination of the Cambridge Crystallographic Database reveals that nearly all reported structures of 1,3 benzene dicarboxylate complexes are in fact coordination polymers. Those 1,3-bdc complexes that are not polymeric typically contain additional capping ligands that prevent the formation of extended chains. The authors have managed to successfully prepare four examples 1,3-benzenedicarboxylate complexes that are discrete molecular species without any typical capping ligands. A discussion of the conditions that led to their preparation is warranted. How do the methods used by the authors compare with those used by others to who isolated polymeric compounds of 1,3-bdc? I am surprised that even under hydrothermal conditions the discrete molecular species are isolated in good yield. This is particularly true for the copper complex in which both carboxylic acid groups have been deprotonated.
