Jean-Francois Carpentier ÎÄÕºϼ¯£¨2008-2012£© Catalysis, Organometallics and Polymer group Permanent staff: J.-F. Carpentier (team leader); S. Guillaume, E. Kirillov, Y. Sarazin ¡°Research in our group is focused on organometallic and coordination chemistry of highly oxophilic elements and single-site catalysis. The central theme of our program is the design of new transition metal and main group complexes with peculiar ligand architectures, the study of their structure, bonding and reactivity, and their application in homogeneously-catalyzed processes relevant to macromolecular (polymer) chemistry and fine chemical synthesis. Most of our current efforts in terms of organometallic chemistry are focused on the use early-transition metal systems, especially those based on group 3 (Sc, Y and lanthanides) and group 4 (Ti, Zr, Hf), as well as related oxophilic elements such as group 2 (alkalino-earths), group 12 (Zn) and group 13 (Al, In) elements. Three major topics are investigated in our group: (i) New ligand environments for stabilization of electropositive metal centers in neutral heteroleptic and cationic environments; (ii) Metallocene and post-metallocene catalysts for stereoselective (co)polymerization of olefins, dienes and styrenics; (iii) Single-site catalyst systems based on bio-friendly metals for the preparation of microstructurally-controlled biocompatible and (bio)degradable polymers derived from renewable resources. These are summarized below. |
