The 2nd IEEE International Nanoelectronics Conference (INEC 2008) In conjunction with Shanghai Nanophotonics & Electronics Forum 24th – 27th March 2008 Shanghai, China Organized By IEEE Lasers and Electro-Optics Society, Singapore Chapter & East China Normal University www.ieeenec.org Call for Abstracts – Abstract Submission Deadline Extended From Nano-materials to Nano-Devices Encouraged by the success of the 1st IEEE International Conference on Emerging Technologies –Nanoelectronics 2006 with participants from over 27 countries attended, the 2nd INEC will be held in Shanghai in conjunction with the Shanghai Nanophotonics and Electronics Forum in March 2008. The extensive research on nano-materials has unveiled many interesting and promising material properties for novel applications in electronics and photonics. In order to benefit mankind for such discoveries, it is necessary to cross the chasm between nano-materials and nano-devices and their applications. This effort will require a multi-disciplinary approach combining research in material design, processing, modelling, characterization and metrology. The commercialization of nanotechnology is also important to fuel future research. The aim of this conference is to identify the paths between fundamental research and potential electronic and photonic applications. This 2nd INEC will provide a platform for international academics, researchers, practitioners and students working in the nanoelectronics and nanophotonics areas to discuss new developments, concepts and practices, and to identify future research needs so that we can bring nanoelectronics research closer to realize its immense potential. All accepted papers shall be included in IEEE Xplore database and indexed by the Engineering Index (EI). Selected papers will also be published in a special issue of the International Journal of Nanotechnology, an SCI indexed journal. INEC 2008 welcomes technical contributions in all areas of Nanoelectronics, including their applications. The topics of interest are broadly categorized into, but not limited to the following: Nanomaterials and Nanostructures Nanowires and Nanotubes Nanomagnetics & Spintronics Nanoscale Modeling & Simulation Nanophotonics Nano-devices/Nano-systems and reliability Nanometrology/Nanomanipulation/Nanofabrication Carbon Nanotubes Molecular Electronics Nano-Bio Systems Nanotechnology Ventures Keynote Speakers Seng-Tiong HO Professor, Northwestern University, USA Nano-Optoelectronics for Ultrafast Photonics and Electronics John ROGERS Prof. of Materials Science and Engineering University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, USA Tubes, Wires and Ribbons for Flexible Electronics Endo MORINOBU Professor Shinshu University, Japan Carbon Nanotubes: Large-scale Production and their Practical Applications Harry E. RUDA Energenius Prof. of Adv. Nanotechnology, University of Toronto, Canada Growth and Engineering of Nanowire Heterostructures Submission Procedure Authors are invited to submit abstracts of 300-400 words in one or more of the areas identified above. Papers must be uploaded as PDF files on the conference web site directly. No hard copy submissions will be entertained. All submitted full papers would be fully peer reviewed by specialist referees assigned by the technical program committee. Accepted papers would be selected for either Oral or Poster presentations. Authors whose papers are accepted must register for the conference by the deadline of 17 December 2007 in order for their paper(s) to be included in the conference CD-ROM Proceedings. No registered author can present more than two papers (oral or poster) in a single registration. Each student registration is only entitled to one presentation (oral or poster).
