PhD and Post-Doc Opening, Stochastic Optimization in Energy, CORE (UCL)

The Center for Operations Research and Econometrics (CORE) is announcing one PhD and one Post-Doc opening at the Applied Mathematics department of the Catholic University of Louvain (UCL), Belgium. The research will focus on stochastic optimization in energy, with an emphasis on renewable energy integration, demand response and parallel computing. Researchers will have the opportunity to access one of the largest supercomputers in the world in a quest to extend the state of the art in energy systems planning and operations. The stimulating research environment of CORE is supported by faculty whose expertise covers a wide range of domains in optimization, energy, statistics and economics. Researchers will also have the opportunity to interact with US collaborators. UCL is located a half hour away from Brussels, in the heart of Europe and the European Union. Applications are due August 23, 2013 or until the positions are filled.
