There are large differences between the gene expression of male and female Bombyx mori after heat treatment.193 genes of female Bombyx mori are up-regulated and 507 genes are down-regulated, the male are 516 and 318 respectively. Additionally, plenty of genes are expressed specifically or being silenced after heat treatment. The gene ontology (GO) analysis of differential genes indicated that the functional distributions of male and female after heat treatment are roughly identical, however, significant differences(p<0.05)are showed in synapse part, virion part, metallochaperone, cell killing, immune system process and rhythmic process. The KEGG(Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes)Pathway Analysis reveals the major distinct ways and the number of distinct genes respectively are: Oxidative phosphorylation:16, Purine metabolism:13, Pyrimidine metabolism:9, Ubiquitin mediated proteolysis:9, Aminoacyl-tRNA biosynthesis:8, Glycolysis/Gluconeogenesis: 8, Arginine and proline metabolism: 8, Ribosome: 8. Although the distinctions of male and female are shown to be similar in the pathway analysis, the types, numbers and up/down-regulated models of genes in every different pathway vary considerably. The results show that high temperature has caused significant differences in generic expression levels of bombyx mori , and those distinct genes reveals gender differences.
