海投博后收到的 A FORM LETTER，看来海投也需要时间好好改cover letter。估计很多人有这种经历吧？希望对大家有帮助！ --------------- I receive several e-mails like yours every week. It appears that you know nothing about me or my research, since your letter does not indicate any specific interest in any of the research projects in my laboratory. I do not read CVs attached to e-mails like this. A postdoctoral position is not a job. It should be the final bit of training before you launch an independent scientific career. You should choose such a position with great care. This requires that you do a fair amount of research on the leading laboratories in your field of interest. You should then write a very carefully crafted letter that shows a genuine interest in the laboratory you are contacting. Do not use the same letter for multiple laboratories. I always want to know two things from prospective postdocs: (1) What specific skills do you hope to acquire while in my laboratory? (2) What specific skills will you bring that my research group does not already have? PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS RESPONSE, LIKE YOUR E-MAIL TO ME, IS A FORM LETTER. I HAVE NOT READ YOUR CV. I SEND THIS TO YOU (AND MANY OTHERS) IN THE HOPE THAT IT IS USEFUL TO YOU. |
