The effectiveness of the combined treatment of rhubarb enema and synchronous auricular-point-pressing therapy on constipation for stroke patients.
Abstract
Objective This study investigates the effectiveness of the combined treatment of rhubarb enema and synchronous auricular-point-pressing therapy for stroke patients with constipation.
Methodology Sixty stroke patients with constipation from year 2011 to 2012 were selected, and the combined treatment of rhubarb enema and synchronous auricular-point-pressing therapy was administered.
Results Fifty eight patients of the selected sixty defecated within 12 hours after the administration of rhubarb enema therapy. With additional administration of synchronous auricular-point-pressing therapy, 43 patients were able to defecate regularly.
Conclusion The combined treatment of rhubarb enema and synchronous auricular-point-pressing therapy provides an effective cure for the constipation of stroke patients. |
