| The phase III clinical trials have shown that blockade of the VEGF pathway inhibits tumour progression and prolongs patient survival in several major cancers. However, a number of tumours did not respond or responded in an early stage but became resistance in a late stage to VEGF inhibition in preclinical mouse models. In addition, anti-VEGF therapy alone appears to be ineffective in some clinical trials. |
