Two fully funded Ph.D. positions in Control Theory and Applications are available within the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Texas Tech University (Texas, USA). The successful candidates will conduct research on the research topics, including but not limited to: 1) Adaptive control of nonlinear systems with uncertainties/disturbances; 2) Boundary control of systems modeled by PDEs or PDE/ODE cascades; 3) Real-time optimization using extremum seeking; and 4) Applications of control to marine/offshore systems in oil/gas industries, MEMS, wind turbines, energy and power systems etc. Requirements: 1) A B.E. or M.S. degree in ME, EE, or a related field (M.S. degree is preferred); 2) Dedicated, hardworking, and passion to learn more; 3) Experienced in MATLAB-SIMULINK; 4) Excellent mathematical skills; 5) Creative and capable of independent study and thinking. Required documents: 1) Detailed CV (including a list of publications, if any); 2) A cover letter to indicate that how you meet ALL the essential criteria with details/examples/evidence, and your career goal; 3) A research statement describing your past achievement and your research plan; 4) Contact information of 2 references.
