Therefore, for quick understanding of industrial mathematics, it may be helpful. However, in most cases, problems can be solved with good unsderstanding of topics, at least theoretical level. This book may be good for beginners, but definitely not for the problem-solvers. Review: Great signal-to-noise ratio This is one of the best (if not the best) practical math books out there. It has a no-frills, "let's get down to business" feel and is not overly wordy. The author keeps each chapter short and focused, delivering digestible amounts of theory along with lots of fully worked examples. Unlike many technical authors, MacCluer seems to fully appreciate that real learning occurs by induction. The problems at the end of the chapters are real gems: simply stated, sometimes challenging, and never pointless.
