The positive charged DA molecules can easily approach the sensing interface of GO/GCE through interaction with the modification layer of GO by π-π stacking and/or electrostatic attraction, and produce large electrochemical response. However, π-π stacking force between AA and GO is absent because AA has no aromatic ring. Moreover, the electrostatic repulsion between the modified GO film and AA prevents the approaching of AA toward the transducer interface, leading to complete disappearance of its electrochemical signal.
