Anyone celebrate our Spring Festival outside ur hometown?

Like every other weekend, I started my experiment this afternoon, which means I will be occupied on continuously 3 days after today. I didn't realize the speciality of this weekend.... Another reason might be that I didn't realize today was already Wednesday, I thought it was the beginning of the week..... Our Spring Festival is coming soooo fast... Pity me, I can't be together with my family on the spring festival. Fine, that's OK, but I have to be in the lab, working with my cells, and welcome the new year in this way.... Fine, It's OK, but I have an appointment with other Chinese guys (We gather together every year to celebrate, just like a family) to make dumplings and watch CCTV1 together, celebrating, how can I ...... I don't know how to deal with it now....Maybe I should postpone my experiment to the late evening on Saturday when we finish the celebration or Sunday, but that is the truly new year's day....Sigh.... Is there anyone who has the similar experience like me or in the same situation as me? Can you share ur experience or ur feeling? And any good suggestion is welcome! |

Of course you are not alone. I have been abroad for 6 years and never go back on such an occasion like the spring festival. (I usually return home in the summer). it's a bit pathetic to have to do lab work in vacation, but you can try to adjust your mood if you cannot control the external factor, right? in my view, the festivals are just meant for business to make money. and i don't feel lonely at all; it's just a normal day to me. during last spring festival i watched a thriller movie and fell asleep before midnight. (Sorry but i really don't fancy chunwan; i don't follow the tradition to watch the TV program which looks so stupid to me ) my suggestion would be to webcom with your family. and treat yourself with a good meal as a reward! |

You'r right. The thing if if we go back in such an occasion, there will be many problems, like traffic jams everywhere. It takes a longer time to get home. The only obtain is seeing so many people everywhere. But the people u see are so familiar to u, because they are all yellow race, speaking mandarin which u can easily understand. This is a warm place because ur heart get warm, and u find u love this place, although there seem to be some problems at the present. |

What a pity that so many of us are not together with the family during the NO.1 traditional festival ! But, you are not alone. For me I will stay in the hospital accompanying my wife, as she is going to have our baby born soon. i am not a real fan of chunwan, however, still with quite a little expectation on programs like that. wish you all a great start in the coming 2013 ! |
