Increasingly depletion of oil resources and the growing awareness of environmental protection contributed significantly to the Chinese government to speed up the development pace of biofuel. Rohm and Haas (www.rohmhaas.com) is the company who invented dry process in biodiesel purification. The process has been applied in many biodiesel manufacturing plants in Europe and United States. At present major issues faced by biodiesel industry in China are sources of raw material, selection of manufacturing process and subsequent purification of biodiesel to meet required standards. So choosing a raw material having the right cost and quality is the key success factor. We have the honor to have Malaysian Palm Oil Board (MPOB, www.mpob.gov.my), the global leader in palm oil applications and related technologies, joining us to give an overview of raw materials for biodiesel production with special reference to palm oil. ² Mr. Michael Pell, Global Marketing Manager of Rohm and Haas (France) Company, will make a detailed introduction about purification of biodiesel using AMBERLITETM BD10DRYTM technology. The process eliminates unwanted impurities from biodiesel made from any feedstock and will completely remove soap and catalyst traces and will also eliminate residual glycerol. Biodiesel purified with AMBERLITETM BD10DRYTM technology meets any global biodiesel standard including ASTM D-6751-06 and EN14214. Mr. Pell will also introduce and discuss the application of our latest esterification catalyst with specific reference to resolving raw material having high Free Fat Acid content.
