It is a misusage of english, or perhaps culture. You cannot borrow something that you cannot return. 500 years is too precious, that you cannot borrow unless you have pre-set the conditions for this.
Anyway, don't say this to any western people. This sentence sounds very arrogant. Lord is allmighty even for ordinary people and must be respected.
