Summary of 20th english corner

Jan.20th our english corner was hold in Bazhou lib, the first floor,( opposite of the Electric reading room). The main topic is “What kind of sport do you like?” There are 12 people joined this activity. Here is the name list: Eric, Shelley, Max, Amy, Dale, Frank, Liuxing, Sally, Yangxiaopeng,Wang**,Xujuan,Treasure. Some one came later, but most of us just on time. Host: Eric. Summary: Shelley. At first Eric told everyone to introudce themseleves to us briefly. Eric is an english teacher, working at a training school, he learned english for 20 years, as a teacher for 11years. Max’s favorite friut is banana. Liuxing is 48years old, he likes hiking, climbling mountain, running and so on, he loves english ,so he come here to join us. Sally, 15years old, like reading books, english, play table tennis and computer games. ( Only new comers introduction,) Talking about our topic, it seems most of us are not into sports and sport stars, we all concentrate on usual exercises. Treature was the first one to eat the crab, she told us something about volleyball, she used too many technical terms in it, we hardly understand the whole meaning of it. But it is a good way to let us know what’s the difference between written and oral english. Volleyball was started in 1895, W.G.Morgan made it, it is one kind of indoor game at the beginning, 1896 Morgan establish the world’s first role of playing volleyball. ( I can’t describe more details about this, I will aske Treasure next time.) Sally loves play table tennis, she thinks it is good for our sight. Frank likes table tennis too, he believes it is interesting and relaxing, he won’t feel tired when he playing this, but after that, he felt exhausted.It means he is absorbed in table tennis. Shelley : I checked Baidu, found out in old times, people do exerices to keep good health, as time goes by, different kind of sports appears, and now days we hold sporting events. After main topic, we played guessing words, Eric gave us four words: freestyle, backstroke, sychronised swimming, breakstroke. In the middle of the game, we were discussing the dangerous of swimming in the river, we all know, last week a boy was died by drown, only 10years old, after school, played with his friends on the thin ice, it is really hurts when I heard this. Frank said, it is good for us go to swimming pool, it is too dangerous to have a swim in the river, expecially no adults to accompany with. Frank chose Yangxiaopeng to be his partner, Yangxiaopeng’s english is great, he can guess more things than we think, he is a little boy. He knows a lot.
