Nanostructured Single-Crystalline Twin Disks of Zinc Oxide

ABSTRACT: Nanostructural twin disks of zinc oxide with high yield were fabricated by vapor-phase transport using a mixture of zinc oxide, indium oxide, and graphite powders as source material. The twin disk consisted of two identical hexagonal disks with a size of about 1.5 ím in diagonal and 100 nm in thickness. The scanning electron microscopy, transmission electron microscopy, and selected area electron diffraction analysis demonstrated that the twin disk was a single crystal, enclosed by{0001}, {101h0}, and {101h1} surfaces.
