IRB Barcelona is located in the Barcelona Science Park, where first-class public research converges with the private sector in a stimulating, vanguard scientific environment. The “la Caixa” Foundation is a not-for-profit organization funded by the third largest financial entity in Spain, the Pension and Savings Bank of Barcelona, “la Caixa”. Based on its budget and activities, “la Caixa” Foundation is one of the ten largest foundations worldwide. Under a Collaborative Framework Agreement, the Ministry of Economy and Competitiveness and "La Caixa" Foundation has launched a fellowship programme. This initiative seeks to recruit talented students from across the world to do their doctoral thesis work in the four accredited “Severo Ochoa” centers of excellence willing to join efforts to boost the research capacity of the best biomedical institutions in Spain as the Institute for Research in Biomedicine (IRB Barcelona) IRB Barcelona is looking for young scientists from the national and international community who wish to do their PhD in a stimulating environment, rich in technological resources and campus life. We encourage applications from highly motivated biologists, biochemists, chemists, physicists, pharmacologists and computational scientists with outstanding qualifications. Successful candidates will join research groups with top-level scientists and will carry out their research in cutting-edge areas of biomedicine. A total of 5 doctoral fellowships are available for the academic year 2013-2014.
