Injection molding screws have to move forward and backward for injection and metering while extrusion screws just rotating continuously at the same position. Typical extrusion screws are longer than injection screws, the l/d for extrusion screws can be 28 while that for screws are less than 24, 20 for most commercial injection molding machines. One more note is the check valve, injection molding screws usually have a check valve in the front tip. The compression ratio of a injection screw is smaller than extrusion screw. Happy New Year! |
