what can we gain from working/studying/doing research

| When we chose to work for a company, study in a prestigious university, or conduct research in a National Key Laboratory, we might have a gorgeous dream or a beautiful blueprint in our minds. We were ambitious, enterprising and energetic -- we would like to change the world with our bare hands! However, the reality might strike on us with an ultimate truth: we were nothing but a tiny spare part in an enormous invisible machine. In this machine, some people are struggling for a living; some others are enjoying their uninhibited life styles; still others are exploring how to enrich their spiritual inner life. Of course everybody deserves a descent and comfortable life by hardworking, but how can we ignore the fact that a painstaking effort may turn out to be time down the drain? We cannot help pondering the significance of working, studying, or doing research. What do we gain from the process and what do we want to benefit from learning? Though an Influential Chinese official, Zeng Guopan, ever said that "Ask not about the harvest, ask about the ploughing", we have to question the significance of "ploughing", the potential benefits of working all year round. Now, my dear friends, could you comment on this and share your opinions with me? |

I gained knowlege from studying, learned how to think from researching, because of my past studying and researching, I got a job as a teahcer, which is my dream. I like my present work, I like the cute tudents, boys and girls, lovely. I gained happiness from my work. the happiness belongs to my spirit. though, maybe I cannot teach all the students well, maybe I cannot change the school, I still will work following my own heart. I still will go ahead along my own way. though, tired, I like it. |

| One and a half years, I think I am bad at doing research, and I donnot know how to do it and what to do next. I am regretful for being a grduate student. I hope I can finish my study quickly and get a job at a foreign company. |

| Life is just so hard and full of miseries. When you choose your own type of life style, you are not going to turn back. It's important to embrace both the happiness and sadness and just keep going. What I have learned from 24 years I have been through, is the way you choose to look at the world. It's the toughness that could help you to passing through all kinds of challenges. When you are tired, just go outside and take some fresh air to let yourself released. Best wishes, and welcome to reality! |

I respect teachers very much,because they can communicate students who are pure and simple and have a lovely heart that our adults once have but now have none.So we should be together with innocent student to speak true words. |

I think something must be done to improve the writhing level in this column, some master-hand should purify the grammer, the idiom and the too much first person expressions. These are so called Chinglish. |
