(C) Complex chloroplast response induced by 7 h of 15 mmol m2 s1 blue light and subsequent recovery in darkness. Rapid accumulation is reversed by a slower but dominating avoidance response. (D) Steady state chloroplast positions following 7 h of blue light at 15 mmol m2 s1. With or without the phot1-5 mutant background, the 14-3-3 κ mutation reduces the extent of avoidance by roughly the same amount. Note that in the wild-type background, the result is a slight net accumulation response. Each data point represents the average of five to seven measurements of separate leaves.
