(2) In comparison with zeolites, mesostructured
materials show much faster formation rates. It takes only
several seconds to minutes for the crystallization as solid
precipitation. The crystallization of zeolites generally requires
several days and even months. (3) Mesoporous molecular
sieves can be formed in nonaqueous media. In many polar
organic solvents, like alcohols and tetrahydrofuran (THF),
mesostructures can be formed through solvent evaporation
induced self-assembly (EISA) or the solvothermal synthesis
method. Water is however, necessary in the preparation
of zeolites. Without water, zeolites cannot be fully crystal-lized.
