This paper shows the historical reason and the internal connotation,which expressed by the feature tobacco leaf , and makes a synthesis of the generative machanism ,the obtained achievement and the potential problems . In addition, the article also make an outlook for the future development of the feature tobacco leaf.

In this paper the historical reasons and connotation of tobacco with characteristics were discussed. The mechanisms of the formation of tobacco with characteristics as well as the achievements and the problems existing were summarized. Simultaneously the prospect of the developments of tobacco with characteristics was carried out.

This article illustrated the connotation and the historical reasons for the origination of the tobacco with characteristics, of which the formation mechanism, achievement and the current issues were summarized as well. Additionally, the future perspective of the tobacco with characteristics was proposed
