In fact, three-fourths of the 32 papers on unsolved problems cited in Section 1 of this 10-section monograph are authored by him. Moreover, the problems discussed in those lectures tended to be of similar or related type and flavor. Naturally, in the work under review the preponderance of problems are also of this type. However, not all are, and notwithstanding this, the reviewer contends that the variety is sufficient for people interested enough to pick up this collection to discover problems which pique their curiosity to such an extent that they will be forced to seek solutions. The problems are divided into eight sections: van der Waerden's theorem and related topics, Covering congruences, Unit fractions, Bases and related topics, Completeness of sequences and related topics, Irrationality and transcendence, Diophantine problems, and Miscellaneous problems (consisting of "problems which for the most part are even more unconventional than those mentioned up to now"  . The tenth section gives an update on some of the problems in an earlier paper of the first author [Monographies de L'Enseignement Mathématique No. 6 (1963), 81--135; MR0158847 (28 #2070)].
