Who should take the responsibility for caring for the elderly?

With the rapid development of medical technology, people are getting healthier and have longer life span, which are bound to lead to population aging. Population aging will put working ages off to an elder stage and this may bring about low efficiency in industrial production. What’s more, young people will face the threat of unemployment and this would give more burden to them to care for the elderly. Therefore, it is of great importance to specify whose responsibility it should be to care for the elderly. In my opinion, the government should take the responsibility to care for the elderly because children of the elderly have had heavy life burdens to make a living and government have the responsibility to make every citizen have a better life in socialist country. I have some recommendations to the government to alleviate the problem. Firstly, government can send pension to the elderly regularly to assure the basic lives. Secondly, government can build apartmrnts for the aged to let the elderly whose children cannot accompany them live together. With this method, government can have unified management for the elderly and the aged people can be not alone anymore. |
